Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Brighton on their stellar production of this year’s District Changeover. All involved did a wonderful job with a smooth process from start to close. MC Damien Hellard was an entertaining compere keeping everyone to time. There was even a bit of Irish dancing going on to the music of singer Sue Foley from Bahn Tre. Following his closing address for the Rotary year, District Governor Neville John made several presentations.
The Citation for Meritorious Service was presented to Past District Governor Jim Studebaker. This citation recognises individual Rotarians who have demonstrated outstanding active service to The Rotary Foundation for more than one year. Jim has served as Assistant Rotary Regional Foundation Coordinator since 2012 and is presently the Rotary Foundation Endowment and Major Gift Advisor for Part of Rotary Zone 8 and 7B.
Neville then presented Royce Abbey Champion of Change Awards to Sam Turner from the Rotary Club of Gisborne and Des O’Shannessy from the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing for their inspirational work in increasing membership.
District Governor Neville John then handed over the Chains of Office to DGE Peter Frueh, who in keeping with his previous remarks, kept the speech short. Peter was supported by his wife Anne, their 3 children and partners, and grandson Lachie who was very much a centre of attention—the youngest Rotarian by many years. The usual exchange of pins took place and there was a round of applause for the G-Train: DG Peter Frueh and Anne, DGE Bronwyn Stephens and Mark and DGEN Grant Hocking and Melissa..
