2011 Business of Winning Luncheon. “COACH EMERITUS”    

11th November 2011 - Crown Palladium

“The Winners” is the corporate lunch of the year. Four coaches, each one a giant of the Australian game with fifteen premierships between them. Each a “Coach Emeritus”.

Join us as we are led by our MC - leading sports journalist Angela Pippos - and our resident “all sports tragic,” Mike Derum, to lightheartedly look at “the business of winning” and we raise funds to support the battle against myeloma.

Winning isn’t everything. It’s the only thing.


Shrine of Rememberance - Remembrance Day Dinner 2011     

6th November 2011 - Melbourne Town Hall

The Shrine’s annual Remembrance Day Dinner takes place in the magnificent Melbourne Town Hall. The theme for this year is the Centenary of the Navy and the event will include the presentation of the Shrine of Remembrance Medal for outstanding contributions to community commemoration. Funds raised from this black tie event will go towards the Shrine’s community education programs.


Show and Shine Day - Rotary Club of Rochester    

6th November 2011 - Rochester Recreation Reserve

This day run in conjunction with Big Boar Riders Shepparton and Boundary Riders Bendigo will feature Displays, auction of Donated Goods and Services.

Total benefit of the day will be wholly committed to continuing flood recovery assistance to residents of the Rochester community.

Eight months on after the Jan 15th floods there is still a considerable number of homes requiring work, with rising damp, mould, white ants an ongoing concern to all.

All those looking for a day in the country as the summer hours approach, come and support Show and Shine Day, have lunch in town, enjoy a cup of coffee with the locals and enjoy life.


Spring Carnival Trivia Night - Rotary Club of Melbourne Park

The Rotary Club of Melbourne Park is inviting you to a night of fun, games and trivia at the Richmond Town Hall. All of the funds raised, will go towards the clubs initiatives and projects.

The theme for the night is "Spring Carnival", so make sure you dress to impress, with prizes for best hat and outfit. Platters of food are available for pre-order via the online ticketing system and wine, beer and softdrink will be available for purchase on the night. So please join us for a great night out and whole lot of fun!

Glenn will speak on business strategies used by the Company to counter a take-over by Lion Nathan in2002, strategies to market new products, and the importance of branding, competing successfully against larger competitors.

With the recent take over of Fosters Pty Ltd by British brewer SABMILLER, will make Coopers the largest Australian brewer. Glenn will offer some comment on.the possible market opportunities for Coopers Brewery.

In conjunction with Veterans Health week, the evening will commence at 7.00pm, with guest speaker, Mr Paul Penno talking on “Resilience & Mental Health”.Mr Penno is secretary of The Bendigo District RSL sub branch, a Vietnam Veteran, and spent 5 years as lecturer in Mental Health & Nursing at Latrobe University. Film will commence at 7.30pm followed by a light supper.

Monies raised from this Breakfast will go towards Cabrini Hospital purchasing a robotic surgical system known as the da Vinci HD surgical system. This system allows surgeons to perform intricate, minimally invasive surgery with a new dimension of precision. Cabrini will use this system across four broad areas of patient health; prostate cancer, heart valve replacement, kidney surgery and gynaecological surgery.

Working Bee at Portsea Camp - District New Generations

Did you know that The Portsea Camp Working Bee/Family & Friends/Rotary Club Fellowship event is 7th - 9th October 2011?  The Portsea Camp is a program within the New Generations Avenue of Service and all D9800 clubs are invited to join the helpers and supporters on this occasion.  All meals and accommodation is provided free of charge and your attendance would be very much appreciated.  CEO Stephen Eastop would warmly welcome your enquiries and offers of assistance.

On September 24th Rotary Club of Rochester will be drawing the winner of our major raffle currently on offer from club members along with the support of fellow Clubs in District 9800.
This will be held in the Rochester Wine Tavern during the evening, where everyone is invited to come along,enjoy a Saturday night meal at the local,fellowship and perchance be the winner of a trip of a lifetime or perhaps a second or third honeymoon.

First prize being airfares to Sydney,a 12 day adventure holiday for two to Cairns,with airfare return to Melbourne.

Melbourne is the proud host of the 2011 Australian Rotaract Conference

This conference will be inspirational for all people attending with keynote speaker, the 2004 Young Australian of the Year, Hugh Evans. Hugh was the founder of the Oaktree Foundation and co-founder of the Global Poverty Project.

Other speakers include

  • Alan Turner (CEO of Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation), and speakers from the
  • Young Women's Christian Association and Cathy Freeman Foundation.
