Rotary Club of Bendigo 90th Anniversary

Back in 1925 a group of prominent Bendigo businessman with the support of the Rotary Club of Melbourne got together and formed the Rotary Club of Bendigo.  90 years later this club is still thriving!  In celebration of this milestone they are planning a spectacular event being held at the magnificent Capital Theatre in Bendigo with fabulous food, wine and entertainment.  It will be a fantastic night of celebration and all Rotarians and friends in the district are invited to come along and celebrate their 90 years of accomplishments on Saturday 22nd August.

Interplast Gala Dinner - Featuring Burns Survivor Turia Pitt

Turia Pitt is an Australian mining engineer, burns survivor, motvationalist and author. Pitt was competing in an ultra-marathon through WA's Kimberley region in 2011 when she was caught in a bushfire. She suffered extensive burns to 80 per cent of her body including the loss of four fingers from her left hand and her right thumb, and for some time was not expected to survive.

Pitt was named the NSW Premier's Woman of the Year and she was a finalist for Young Australian of the Year. She is an Ambassador for Interplast, and she graced the cover of The Australian Women's Weekly, which attracted world wide media attention.

She is also a humanitarian, and raised close to $200,000 for Interplast by taking on a section of the Great Wall of China in 2014 and walking Peru’s Inca trail in 2015 in sponsored challenges.

An Evening for Nepal Earthquake Relief - hosted by Seven Women    

WHEN:  Friday 19th June 2015, 6.30pm for a 7pm start

VENUE:  The Apartment, 401 Lt Bourke St, Melbourne

COST:   $75.00 per person includes canapes, a glass of house wine on arrival and $50 contribution to the Seven Women Earthquake Relief Fund. Extra drinks available at bar prices - The Apartment is donating 10% of bar takings to our Relief Fund!

Seven Women is hosting a special fundraising event for our Earthquake Relief Fund. We urgently need money to rebuild rural Chipling & Betini villages, where we run literacy classes, which were wiped out by the April earthquake. The locals also need emergency food & medical supplies.

Join us for drinks & canapés at The Apartment cocktail lounge on 19th June to help us help them restart their lives.

Night includes live music, an update on rebuilding progress in Nepal by Stephanie Woollard, Seven Women products for sale, an amazing raffle & auction. It promises to be a fun night supporting a great cause.

The Hawthorn Craft Market operates on the first Sunday of each month from March to December in Camberwell, selling a range of individually designed items.

Rotary District Assembly - Let's Give to the World    

District Governor Elect Julie Mason, the District Training team and the Rotary Club of Melton invite all District 9800 Clubs and Rotarians to attend the “Lets Give to the World” – District Assembly 2015 event on Sunday May 17th, 2015 at Tabcorp Park, Melton.

The District Assembly will provide an opportunity for D9800 Rotarians to engage with a number of training options to be involved in conversation about programs of interest, learn how to develop Programs and learn about new projects. The Registration cost for Rotarians is $31.00, including lunch; $13.00 if lunch is not taken. The  event begins at 9.15am with registrations being taken from 8.15am.

Group Study Exchange 2015    

Applications NOW OPEN for team members and team leaders

Group Study Exchange (GSE) is a cultural and vocational exchange program for professional business men and women, aged  between 25 and 40  years, and in the early years of their professional lives. Each exchange team is comprised of a Rotarian acting as the  team leader and  four  specially selected team  members.

This year we will be exchanging with District 6840 which serves southeast Louisiana, including New Orleans, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It is proposed that the incoming team will arrive on 21st  February and depart  on 22nd  March and that the outgoing team from our District will depart for the United States at the same time as the team from District 6840 and return 4 weeks later.
