Content Item - Rotary Australia Benevolent Society

RABS was a new initiative introduced in 2013 to help individuals or communities suffering stress, poverty, sickness, disability, misfortune or helplessness. It is a local program focussing on local needs rather than an internal program, but qualifies for Australian Tax Office tax deductibility status by being aligned with RAWCS during this pilot phase.

Content Item - World of Difference

World of Difference provides tours, including schoolies tours, where volunteers work in and donate to several schools and villages, together with a range of cultural and tourism activities. The initial focus has been in Cambodia. Its core mission is to expose participants to the needs of Rotary projects in developing countries. As a result of the tours, Rotary clubs have initiated their own projects.

Content Item - Seven Women

Seven Women commenced in 2007 as a reaction to the plight of disabled and disadvantaged women in Katmandu, and rapidly grew from the original seven individuals to more than 760 today. Women are taught handcraft skills and their products are sold in overseas markets to provide much needed income for the women involved.

A joint venture between Rotary District 9800 and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. Volunteer teams of surgeons and nurses provide plastic and reconstructive medical procedures throughout the South Pacific and South East Asia. Clubs and Rotarians are invited to financially support these volunteer teams.

Content Item - Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC)

An initiative of District 9800 and now a National Rotary program. ROMAC brings children from underdeveloped countries to Australia for life-changing medical procedures. ROMAC receives significant support from the medical profession. Clubs and Rotarians are invited to financially support the patients when they arrive in Victoria. Speakers are available to attend club meetings.

Content Item - Rotary Australia World Community Services (RAWCS)

RAWCS is a Multi-District project of Rotary in Australia which can assist and support Rotary Clubs and Districts in their endeavours in International Service. The purpose of District 9800 RAWCS Committee is to encourage district clubs to develop and implement International Service Projects and to provide advice and support as requested and required. General and detailed advice on project identification, design, planning and implementation is available. Assistance with fundraising, tax deductibility and introductions to 9800 Clubs interested in developing shared projects is provided. Assistance and advice to volunteers interested in working on projects abroad is given.

Content Item - International Service Report 2013/14

International Service exemplifies the global reach of Rotary in promoting peace and understanding and encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world.

In District 9800 we support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, contributing to Polio Plus and helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries.

World Of Difference powerfully portrays the work of Rotary in developing countries. We visit well resourced and well run Rotary supported projects. This contrasts with villages and schools in need of Rotary support. During visits we provide donations and volunteering. Each tour builds on the last to provide on going dental hygiene checks, English, knitting and craft classes.
